The musical delivery of John Anderson’s lines in this scene from Walk on the Wild Side (1962,Edward Dmytryk) was the inspiration for this piece . Laurence Harvey’s southern drawl is preposterous, but his pitch and range provide a nice counterpoint. Both inspired the transcription and musical setting.
